Earthbound Expeditions is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable classic and affordable trek to the Everest base camp of Nepal.

Why trek or hike to Everest base camp?

  • CNN International recommended Everest Base Camp trekking in Nepal as one of the best top ten adventure hiking trip in the world for 2011
  • The Everest Base Camp hiking has been ranked as 4th best treks in the world by Lonely Planet.
  • UK’s leading magazine The Observer a sister publication of UK’s Guardian published an article in its Sunday edition where “Everest Base Camp trekking of Nepal” was listed in the 20 Journeys of a Lifetime.
  • ANNA KAMINSKI, a writer for Lonely Planet, recently trekked to Everest base camp with Earthbound Expeditions and wrote an article titled “Returning to Everest: Trekking to Base Camp After the 2015 Earthquake,” in which she described her experience as “secure and enjoyable.”

A CLASSIC AND AFFORDABLE TREK TO MOUNT EVEREST BASE CAMP of Nepal

At the base of Mount Everest – “Sagarmatha” on its southern side lies the Everest Base Camp scaled by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa in 1953! The home of the smiling Sherpa and the Yaks, Everest Base Camp trekking is our most popular hike and has been the safest trek route forever! after Tenzing and Hillary reached the Top of Mt. Everest (Sagarmatha).

The Everest base camp is situated in the Himalayas of Nepal at a height of 5300 meters / 17,388 feet. There are no rocky ridges to traverse, no scrambling or technical climbing but just a good well-graded path accessible to all keen hikers and trekkers which leads all the way to the Everest base camp. Nevertheless, one aspect that should not be underestimated is that your efforts to experience the Mt.Everest trail and its remarkable culture, history and scenery will take place at an altitude. The key to Everest Base Camp trekking is consequently being careful while pacing and taking plenty of time to acclimatize.

With over 18 years of experience of organizing treks to the Himalayas, you can be certain that trips offered by Earthbound Expeditions intended for Everest Base Camp allow you optimum adaptation time to the mountains because of the days you would have spent either by just walking for a couple of hours or even while resting.

If for any reason you are not able to make it to Mt.Everest base camp, you can also opt. to trek simply up to Kalapathar viewpoint at the elevation of 5600 m / 18372 ft. which offers you a close-up view of Mt.Everest and other mountain ranges.

If you want a little tougher way to get to Everest Base Camp, you may want to do our 22 Days Everest Base Camp – Chola Pass – Gokyo Lake and Renjo La Pass Trek. You can also go for an 18 days’ Trek to Everest Base Camp or Everest’s three high pass trek. Contact us for more details.

DINGBOCHE - 4,400 m Acclimatization Day

At this altitude, the human body needs time to adjust to the environment so take your day to acclimatize to the high altitude climate. Rather than just sitting around, we encourage you to attempt one of the two hikes we recommend. The short and best option is to ascend the hill immediately behind Dingboche which takes about four hours to reach the top. The view from the top will just blow your mind. Your four hours effort to reach the top will be eventually rewarded.

Departure Day

You will be transferred to airport at your schedule for the final departure as today is the last day of our 16 Days Everest Base Camp Trekking. Thank you for choosing Earthbound Expeditions Nepal as your travel organizer. Have a safe flight. To avoid risk of missing your flight back home we always recommend that you have 2 to 3 days extra at the end of the trip because flight from Lukla airport is sometimes delayed or cancelled due to bad weather conditions. Nevertheless if you are on time and you have these additional days to travel around then you can visit the Chitwan National park, White water rafting in Trishuli River or else to go Pokhara for a tour or simply join Yoga classes. You can also opt to get a massage. P.S: If the flight to Lukla is cancelled for more than 3 days, then in that case we will possibly change the itinerary for something equally better alternative trek. We also recommend you to do travel Insurance that all cover Helicopter ride / recuse or flight delay / cancellation issue.

We booked Everest Base Camp trek with Earthbound Expeditions and I couldn’t be happier with our choice. We chose them based on many good reviews on TA, but they exceeded all expectations. We ended up booking with them the EBC trek, a day tour in Katmandu, a day trip to Bhaktapur and all of our transfers. Rajan, the owner of the company, responded promptly to all of our e-mails, before and during the trip, and, on the trek, when one of us got sick on the way to Namche and needed some specific medication, he offered to send it by helicopter to Namche if we couldn’t find it there (but we could, thanfully). We were very happy with our trekking guide Hari. He took great care of the three of us. Just don’t believe him when he says that the terrain is flat, it never is... lol. But I guess that’s why they call it “nepali flat”! Our porters were very helpfull, as everyday, after they reached the lodge we were going to spend the night at and dropped our duffle bags, they’d come back on the trail and offered to carry our backpacks, what was very much welcome at some points. And in the very long day that we went from Lobuche to Gorakshep, then EBC and back to Gorakshep, Hari asked the porters to trek with us from Gorakshep to EBC carrying our backpacks so we would’t be so exausted. We were first time trekkers, and we were very worried about the accomodations during the trek, and Rajan made sure that we stayed at the best lodge each village had to offer. Of course as we reached higher altitudes the lodges were very basic, but they were as clean and confortable as it could be, and the food was good. We had a very good tour guide on our day trip to Bhaktapur, but unfortunatelly I can’t remember his name. I would definately reccomend Earthbound Expeditions to anyone interested in visiting or trekking in Nepal!
